Travel: Cote D'Azure France Summer 2016

During the summer of 2016 I traveled back to Europe to pick up our son Hamilton in Paris after his 5th grade French exchange program. We then took a trip to the south as a family and rented a home in the small town of Grimaud just outside Saint Tropez. It was great to see the kids using their French language skills and enjoying the beautiful beaches. We spent the days exploring all of the small towns and visiting St. Tropez where I love to visit my favorite sandal store, Rondini. I have worn these sandals every day that is warm enough for the last 25 years. I think people get tired of seeing my strangely long toes, but these are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. There is amazing shopping and places to visit here in this region.  Here is my map: France Vintage

The beach at La Croix-Valmer, the blue raft out there was a destination for Beth and the kids to swim to, but then got stranded with a huge amount of Jellyfish surrounding and preventing their return to the beach

This is the random Basque Catholic parade and celebration that we joined near our house in Grimaud that we joined. We felt a bit like the Griswalds joining the parade as we were obviously Americans, except when they spoke to our kids who they thought were French. It was beautiful as we marched along this parade for a couple of miles down dirt country vineyard roads and ending up at this church

This is a picture of a typical house in Grimaud. Here the streets look wide and easy to navigate, but that was not how most of the streets appeared to us that were mostly more narrow than our car. I just kept hearing beth Beth say "Now Clark" don't fall off the road.... true Griswold style
